I visited the reserve today since a big flock of Bimaculated Larks were seen on previous day. I couldn’t find them but it was nice to see that Black-crowned Finch Larks breed in good numbers again after several bad years. However, Dunn’s Lark is still missing. Family of Hoopoe Larks was very nice to find. Lesser Kestrels are on the move just now.

Neil Tovey and Markus Graig found Indian Pond Heron in the reserve and kindly asked me to visit. They knew that this species is my bogey bird. Neil got confirmation from U.A.E. expert stating that the bird is indeed Indian Pond Heron. This is 3rd. record for Kuwait if accepted by KORC.

Winter souvenirs from Finland between Xmas holidays and New Years Day

I managed to twitch Azure Tit and in the same place where other interesting birds showed up too. The place is in the city of Helsinki!

Azure Tit (Parus cyanus) Note that the crown is completely white and thus there is no risk to hybrid between Blue Tit (Parus caerulus)

25/12/2015 Lesser Flamingo 4th record if accepted by KORC

A lesser Flamingo was seen today at Sulaibikhat Bay. I rushed there to see this beautiful bird with a Greater Flamingo flock as usual and managed few photographs.
