21/01/2011 Drive from Salmi to Abraq Al Habari

We decided to drive across the desert from Salmi to Al Abraq which makes about 50 kms. I was accompanied with Mike & Sylvie Newey and Brian Foster. In the begining it looked almost birdless desert with some Desert Wheatears only. Then we found first Desert Lark and seemed that it would be only one around. Soon after we found a flock of Temminck’s Larks that were followed other small flocks. We estimated all in all 20+ of them. Next flock looked different and it turned out to be Desert Larks which is not common in Kuwait. We counted up to 14 birds which is the highest recent daily count.
