10/12/2011 at Jahra East Outfall (Julaidiyat) Hooded Wheatear

I was birding with Edward Ryland, Paul Chapman and Daniel Mauras at Jahra East Outfall on 10. Dec. We ftound 1. winter male wheatear looking like a Pied Wheatear. The bird was identified at the site as Pied Wheatear but luckily Daniel photographed it and later on it became obvious that the bird is indeed Hooded Wheatear. One of the most convincing features is the tail pattern showing just a hint of terminal band. Also the bill is long and primary coverts are clearly tipped white.  The record is valid if accepted by KORC.
